NRR188: vertonen "tidal trespasses" CD

We’ve asked Blake for three recordings: “Hostage Exchange” (2018), "Instability Event" (2021), and to be one of the [spoiler alert] secret artists on Fontana (2023), to which he contributed one of our favorite tracks. For each release, though, we’d asked him to work within a narrow focus and with a specific sound. For each release, he delivered. So we finally said, Fuck it. Lay it on us.

Over 30 stellar years, Vertonen has explored drone, harsh noise, musique concrete, industrial, and field recordings. A common thread is a conceptual basis for each release. "Tidal Trespasses" is about alignments and misalignments, expressed through jammed microcassette motors; high power magnet signal interference; and playback device failure from damaged, modified, or misused equipment.
